The Reeds was made for REBEL MUSIC . An MTV production made of six-part series that looks into the lives of young people who are using art and music to ignite change around the world. In this short story I tried to make voice to the unheard young Egyptians who are still unsatisfied of the way things are. I wanted to express their sense of longing, pride and hope mixed with fear, anger and confusion. I approached it gently featuring a musical instrument that its music is of the labour of breath ,not even being able to sing while playing it, yet it explodes emotions. It’s almost troubling and glorious at the same time how young Egyptians still handle all the mistrust in available options and willing to push things more into a progressive state. This is for Egyptians who want a better present and future. you can find the story entry in the Egypt section of REBEL MUSIC website.
