ما هى شغلانة؟

شغلانة هى أول صحيفة غير هادفة للربح، تسعى لتعزيز و مناقشة المواضيع المتعلقة بالوظائف الفنية و المهنية في مصر. كما تناول شغلانة مواضيع متنوعة و تسعى لتزويد العمال بمعلومات عن فرص العمل و تثقيفهم بشأن حقوقهم، و تقديم للشباب فكرة عن الوظائف الفنية و المهنية و الإعراب عن التقدير لتلك الوظائف. و قد وضعت شغلانة هدفها في إعلام وتثقيف وترفيه قرائها في نفس الوقت.

Shoghlana is the first non-profit newspaper that seeks to promote topics related to blue-collar jobs and workers in Egypt. As a newspaper Shoghlana addresses diverse topics and seeks to provide workers with information on employment, to educate them on simple workers’ rights, to give the youth insight on job profiles and express the appreciation towards the work of blue collars. Shoghlana has set its goal to inform, educate and entertain its readers at the same time

Now This Drawing is just a frame from a comic I did back in early 2006, it was a sort of a movie parody, a sort of a "Shall we Dance" type of a movie..anyway.. you might've noticed some slight difference in style (or not?) :)
But I thought it fits the theme :)

First Day of Fall :)...Summer is OVER!!!! ..Happy Fall to you all :D

Working on this project that required some sketching..here is one of them. I am not so sure about this one since they all look like they're taking a photo :)..we'll see..later!

Now this time it is art used in a short documentary about Al Mawardi  and his important book mainly about ethics Kitab Aadab al-Dunya wa al-Din ..I included the clip if you want to check how it was used..

I've been working on this project and this is a glimpse of the a very early character "options" ..I started with the one on the far left , kept changing till we agreed on the one on the far right :)

These are about 2 years old , they were used in a short documentary about Rifa’a al-Tahtawi and his important book “A profile of Paris” at that time (He died in Cairo in 1873)

Since I've been to Canada I get this feeling from time to time that there is a lot I haven't tried in Egypt, not necessarily exciting but still I find people's norm now is different to me :) one of the things I never tried is a ride in a Tok tok or even seeing it often enough!
These 2 editorial illustrations were done for an article about some jobs that are getting more popular ..I picked these to share..a Tok tok I never tried and an old fashion printing machine that I've seen some :)

so these guys, Tayoob and Tayooch are going to be show every once in a while since I do a comic about them every week in Majid Magazine, here is a sneak peak ..I will be posting other stuff and going back to them.

Yesterday was my birthday ! no time for cocoons! too old for them! :P

Today is a special day, it's the day I got married to my wonderful wife, it's our 7th anniversary and to celebrate 7 years I made her this card featuring our ever playful-ever troublesome dog "May" ..

To my wife Michelle, I love you! :)

The worker outside are still making a lot of noise changing the pipes. thy have been working all summer so I have made good friends with my headphones..on all these noise, music and talks I listen to ( among struggling to focus) ..I was working on this cover for Majid magazine today..will share full color when it's published (around mid October)
